Board of Directors
Randy Colman first moved to Aspen in 1980. Before Aspen, Randy oversaw the successful business enterprise of Sommers/Colman & Company, which was the largest real estate brokerage firm in Houston in the 1970s.
He's been closely associated with Aspen Public Radio since joining the board in 1997, serving as the station's treasure since that time. Randy was involved in the negotiation of a tri-party agreement to construct a new tower and transmitter (with an FCC license) on Sunlight Peak, which dramatically increased the reach of Aspen Public Radio's signal. Randy has been intimately involved in ensuring the financial health of the organization as the annual budget has grown from $150K to $900K.
Because Randy wants Aspen Public Radio to be a permanent fixture in the Roaring Fork Valley, he has been instrumental in laying the groundwork for the Aspen Public Radio Endowment. In addition to serving on the board of Aspen Public Radio, Randy is also a fervent listener of the station.
