Earlier this week trustees in the Town of Silt made a move toward joining the Roaring Fork Transit Authority. Currently RFTA provides service to Silt but the Town has not contributed money to the service. Aspen Public Radio's Mitzi Rapkin reports.

Garfield County is working to streamline its purchasing system. The computer-based tracking method will be new for the County and may set a precident in the Valley. Aspen Public Radio's Victoria Foley reports.

A "mud and flood" panel discussion is scheduled in Basalt tonight where local experts and emergency responders will answer questions from the public. Aspen Public Radio's Marci Krivonen reports.

A new website and set of bumper stickers proclaiming the benefits of affordable housing are now being offered to residents in the Roaring Fork Valley. Members of a civic group of the Roaring Fork Leadership program created the "YIMBY" campaign or, "Yes, In My Backyard." It's meant to provide resources for people looking for affordable housing and to be a voice for supporters of affordable housing. Aspen Public Radio's Marci Krivonen reports.

Some statistics from one small non profit group in the Valley accentuate the need for more affordable housing in the region. Aspen Public Radio's Mitzi Rapkin reports.

One of the State's only wildlife rehabilitation centers is looking to nurse its funding back to health. The Pauline Schneegas Wildlife Foundation in Silt is struggling to make ends meet. Aspen Public Radio's Victoria Foley reports.

Officials with the City of Aspen and Pitkin County think homes in the affordable housing program are worth showing off. This week, the agencies will start filming television segments, profiling homeowners and their affordable housing units. The 15-minute segments will be called "Lifestyles of the Not Yet Rich and Pretty Much Anonymous." Aspen Public Radio's Marci Krivonen reports.

Voters will likely face a sales tax increase question on the November ballot. Yesterday Board members with the Roaring Fork Transportation Authority decided they wanted to include the question in all RFTA jurisdictions in order to implement the first phase of Bus Rapid Transit. Aspen Public Radio's Mitzi Rapkin reports.

Starting Friday electronic and hazardous waste will be hauled out of the City of Aspen and recycled. It's part of the City's 2-day Electronic Waste Collection event. Aspen Public Radio's Marci Krivonen reports.
